Zander
The official English name for this species is zander but many name it pikeperch. It is a beautiful predator that can be hard to catch on a fly. Although at time strikes can be stunningly hard! Especially when using wiggle tails the number of pikeperch by-catches will go up. They simply love the movement of swimming tails. Pre-spawning they are very aggressive and love to attack Elbi's big flashy perch. We have caught them on streamers in the shallows, on the drops and in the deep (up to 6 meter). The fight may not be spectacular but the beauty of their 'spiny' fins make up for that when the fish is landed. A beautiful by-catch and great fun to catch.
