Catfish on the fly, no longer a by-catch!
Summer 2024 Thijs vd Acker from Float Plus took me to a catfish spot. We swopped belly boats and I had my first personal experience with livescope fly fishing. We fished for three hours and I landed three catfish. All casting and stripping using the livescope to search for the catfish.
Catfish numbers are growing in the Netherlands. Last day of the 2022 predator season we ran into one. At first we thought we were fighting the pike of a lifetime, until the fish surfaced. Catfish! And a good one too!! A small 15cm wiggle tail streamer did the job. The Airflo outfit (Greentooth 9ft #9/10, Elbi pile WF9/10S7 and switch black reel #7/9) too.
